Rest in Peace Steve Jobs

It’s amazing that someone you’ve never had the pleasure to meet can effect your life so much. Steve Jobs was perhaps the most inspirational and influential person of our time. He’s done amazing things for the way we think about business and innovation.

We’ve lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Steve Jobs was the co-founder of and former CEO of Apple Inc., and has passed away this brisk fall day at the age of 56. Back in 2004 Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and over the years has progressively gotten worse. As his condition worsened, his sickness forced him to resign from Apple earlier this year, as he could no longer continue his duties and/or meet expectations.

Harvest App: Time Tracking Made Easy

Harvest App

Harvest App

If you’re a freelance designer and developer like me, you’re probably always looking for different ways to make your workflow a little faster and smoother. And when it comes to getting paid, that’s an area of business I don’t like to get wrong. Harvest is a beautiful app that allows you to keep track of your time and expenses with the simple click of a button. The interface is simple and easy to use and comes loaded with a variety of different features.

Being able to track your time has never been easier. With Harvest, just enter your hourly rate and press “start”. Harvest will not only keep track of the amount of time you’re spending on any given project, but it’ll let you know exactly how much money your making too. And not to worry, with Harvest’s seamless invoice integration, when you’re done with a project, easily print off or email an invoice with all hours a expenses for the project.

Harvest also makes it easy to access your projects, tasks and times. Whether you’re out in the field or at home plugin’ away, you can access Harvest thru a desktop widget, online or even thru your smart phone, so no matter where you are, you can ensure that things are being taken care of. There’s a lot of companies out there producing tools similar to Harvest, but in my opinion, not one of them comes close. With my new job, I’m required to keep track of my own hours, and Harvest makes this a breeze each and every day: I’m tracking. Harvest has a few different plans to choose from, and you can even get going for free, so be sure to check it out, and give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

A couple days ago I posted some awesome packaging design from Olivia Paden. Here’s another great project from Olivia for a product called OneTouch. The goal was to create a more approachable solution where the packaging meets the product. Olivia knocked this one out of the park, you can read more about her here.

I’ve posted a couple things from Brain Farm within the past month or so, and I’ve got to tell you, I just can’t get enough. Specializing in aerial and HD cinema, these guys have put together the two best snowboarding films, “That’s It, That’s All, and soon to come, “The Art of Flight”. Aside from snowboarding films, they’ve done some great work for Visa, and other companies, you can view more of their stuff here.

This beautiful house by Guz Architects is laid out around a water court which provides us the main focal point of the piece. The home is very high tech and includes things such as: state of the art EIB systems, photovoltaic cells, and security systems. I’m not sure what two of three of those things are, but I’m pretty sure its no easy task keeping up with all of the plant life that accompanies this house. Read more about it here.

On March 11th, 2011 we’ll see the iPad like we’ve never seen it before. The iPad 2 will change the game again. I’m really excited to see what this device will have to offer with upgrades such as; a dual core A5 chip, a front facing camera to enjoy the luxury of facetime, and much greater battery performance. These just touch the surface of what the iPad 2 will have to offer. You can read all about it here.

Last week I posted a trailer on a snowboarding film called “The Art of Flight” by Brain Farm, to be released in the fall of 2011. It’s closest competitor, “That’s It, That’s All” was also mentioned and I figured it deserved it’s glory as well. Brain Farm is one of my favorite production houses and I’m very impressed with both of these films. I’m looking forward to see where progression will take these guys.
